Urge Senators and Representatives to support the Peace Corps

Build support in the Senate and the House of Representatives for $450 million. Since the House of Representatives came in at $450 million and the Senate with $373 million, there is a discrepancy. When this happens, there is a “conference” to resolve the discrepancy. This will happen soon though we have not yet deciphered the date. In years past, the House and Senate have averaged the two figures. We don’t want that. Averaging would get us just $412 million and there is no longer any tenable justification for under-funding the Peace Corps. Also, this year, we are much stronger in the House of Representatives with bipartisan champions and we are also stronger in the Senate where 37 Senators (the most on any Peace Corps letter ever) signed the letter issued by Senators Dodd and Corker urging robust funding for Peace Corps in 2010. But note: if we can build massive support in the House of Representatives, we can override the Senate mark but we would need at least 100 strong supporters in the House.
